For one year after that, the Lumina was available as a fleet-only vehicle. The Lumina, however, was eventually replaced by the Impala, last available as a new model in 1999. Later, an LTZ trim was available with a 3.1L V6 that could produce up to 160 horsepower or a 3.4L V6 that could produce up to 215 horsepower. For the 1995 model year, the Lumina sedan rolled out in 1994 with a rounded, more aerodynamic shape, an improved interior, and two trims, the base and the LS. The coupe and the Z34 resurrected the Monte Carlo nameplate and the Lumina APV became the Venture. Manning a sporty suspension, a V6 that could produce up to 210 horsepower, a dual exhaust, rear spoiler, sport bucket seats, and a unique rear and fascia, the Z34 looked like a car of its own and had a few more features than mentioned that distinguished itself from the other Luminas.Īll of these models except for the sedan received a new nameplate. One high performance coupe version, known as the Lumina Z34, was also available. Buyers could choose between an inline-four and a V6 for the engine, and two trims were available, the base and the Euro. The Sedan and Coupe were built on the GM W-body, while the APV was built on the U-body. The first featured a Lumina Sedan, Lumina Coupe, and the Lumina APV (All-Purpose Vehicle) for the 1990 model year.

There are two generations of the Chevy Lumina. The Lumina name was applied to a number of body styles- coupe, sedan, and minivan-until the mid-90s, when each style was given a new model name. This Chevy Lumina is not to be confused with the Lumina APV, a minivan that Chevrolet produced from 1989-1996. Timing Belts, Timing Chains & Components.Wondering if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution for this before I go out spending hundreds replacing components (MAF, EGR, Ignition Coil, etc) that has no guarantee of fixing the problem. OBD-II scan did NOT pull up any codes either. The plugs came out scorched black from excess carbon fouling (running super rich). I've replaced at this moment just a set of sparkplugs, which helped just a bit, but didnt cure the problem. Lower-rpm power band is also very rough, as if the car was missfiring, then go back to normal up top. and the car would sometimes stall when stopped in traffic. However, the idle would still be very rough. I have to give it some gas and hold it down for a few seconds, and then let off, and the idle would sometimes stablize. The car would sometimes need to be cranked a good 10-15sec, and would immediately stall if you dont give it any gas. Seem to be experiencing the same issue here. I'll post another reply in a few weeks indicating whether the problem has returned or not. I guess the only way to find out whether the problem is solved is time.

The vaccum lines seem alright and the car holds good vaccum. The check engine light never came on even before I changed the ECU. I've only driven the car about 40 miles since it's been replaced, but so far everything seems normal (except of course the engine running rough a little while the ECU tunes itself). Well I just replaced the ECU because someone told me that is usually the source with this intermittent type of problem. Any suggestions what I can do to prevent this from worsening or damaging the transmission further? I also notice rough shifting or hesitation to shift around 50 mph with my automatic transmission. Other then that is there any other suggestions or similar incidences? What was done to solve the problem? I also am going to clean the throttle body and remove the injectors and have them professionally cleaned and pressure tested, then reinstall with all new o-rings (of course). My best guess is the Engine Control Module (ECM) which is what im probably going to replace soon. There is a huge loss of power and sometimes the smell of raw gas is noticed, like the engine is being flooded. What happens is most of the time the car runs perfectly fine but on some occations the car has a hard time starting then, when finally stared after several tries and flooring the gas pedal, the engine runs poorly and when accelerating from stop, engine hesitates then picks up. Coil pack, wires, and plugs recently replaced. My '93 chevy lumina (120k miles) has an intermittent ignition problem.
